Time Control

ISS HD Earth Viewing Experiment with Overlay

In this page you can watch realtime video from four HD cameras onboard the ISS (front, nadir and 2 rear). Cameras are automatically switched at regular intervals. SatFlare is able to superimpose, in real time, an overlay that marks country borders and cities. You have just to manually choose, by clicking on the camera buttons, the correct overlay for the camera actually shown. Please note that the first rear camera appears with some focus problems, therefore, only one rear overlay is provided. Some buttons under the map allow you to better align the overlay with the real images, compensating for the video delay due to the transmission over Internet and for small changes in the ISS orientation (Yaw). To interact with the Ustream video controls you have to disable the overlay. If the screen is black, the station might be in night side of the Earth. While waiting for sunrise, you can take a look at some screenshots. During the first visit, this page may take some time to load completely, thus be patient.

New: With the overlay you can now simulate future views of the cams and find out the best time to see specific regions of the Earth! Just press the Enter Simulation button located under the video and move the time ahead using the Time Control panel on the left-side scrolling bar.
